Hi everyone! Recently my friends and I were talking about books we read when we were 13-17. A lot of popular book series were mentioned from The Hunger Games to The Maze Runner. It was during this conversation that I realised I missed out on reading a lot of popular teen/YA books.
This realisation has lead to a new series here on Allie About English- All About Teen/YA Reading. For the rest of 2020 amongst the other books I read and review I will be putting the spotlight on a popular teen/YA book that I did not read when I was a teenager. I feel that reading these books now will provide a different view of the books but I am very excited to get started and possibly discover some great books that I let pass me by.
I have a very small list to begin with but here are three books that a lot of people spoke about but I have never read.
I have watched all five of the Twilight films multiple times. I was Team Edward. I have never read a single word of any of the books. I recently purchased Midnight Sun but I am going right back to the beginning of Stephenie Meyer‘s vampire saga. I will be reading the physical copy of Twilight as currently in the UK supermarkets such as Tesco are selling it as part of the 2 books for £8 deal.
This is one of my favourite films based on a book I have not read. The film adaptation of Beautiful Creatures is a film I have not, yet, grown tired of and watch it to lift my mood regularly. That is why now is the time to read Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl‘s book which began my love of the film. I will also be reading a physical copy of the book as it was recently gifted to me by a friend.
I have never read The Selection by Kiera Cass. I was 12 when it was first published and the first time I ever heard anyone talking about it I was probably 15. The context of this conversation was a friend who summed up the plot as “The Hunger Games but for dating.” Besides that and the constant reminder that this book exists due to Book TikTok I think it is time to give it a go. I am going to read The Selection on my Kindle.
